A brave nine-year-old from Newark has had her long locks chopped to support a charity which makes wigs for children with cancer.<\/p>\n
Amelia Grace Needham<\/strong>, from Middlebeck, visited KH Hair in Stodman Street to have her waist-length hair cut short for Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other conditions.<\/p>\n Amelia<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>says she was very nervous but stylist\u00a0<\/span>Victoria<\/strong>, who carried out the cut, and the ladies at KH Hair were amazing and helped put her at ease. \u201cI kept reminding myself I was going to make a little girl or boy super happy when they were probably feeling sad that they\u2019d lost their own hair.<\/em>\u201d she says.\u00a0 \u201cI really love my new cut. It\u2019s much easier to manage, but I\u2019m going to grow it long again so I can donate more hair!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Her friends and family say they are super-proud of her and think her new style really suits her. Mum, Leanne, says Amelia wanted to donate her hair to help children gain confidence after chemotherapy treatment. \u201cAmeila has a big heart<\/em>.\u201d she explains. \u201cShe sadly lost her Grandad to cancer earlier this year and wanted to do something to help research, so she has also been raising money to donate to the charity, along with her hair.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n KH Hair salon director,\u00a0<\/span>Maxine Sutcliffe<\/strong>, says: \u201cAmelia looks amazing and seems to be very happy with her new cut. Little Princess Trust is a wonderful charity that we have supported for many years, and we were very happy to be involved<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n
